Country Cottage Tour #1

If I learned one thing from the farmhouse being sold, then unsold, is to be a bit more prepared.
My home has been on the market for a few months, and during this time I viewed only one house.
Not exactly the wisest thing to do when your house is up for sale.
So when the offer came in, it was a fast closing.  And I wasn't ready for it.
Having said that, I knew that I could have gotten everything done within that time frame, but it just added more stress.
This is about to change.  I will be viewing more homes for sale.
And of course, bringing you guys along!

With the phase two flip house purchase I imagine it will be a small home.
Within my budget for this home, I would like to get a clean home, at least three bedrooms, preferably in a small town or hamlet.
A cottage style home.  A country cottage.
So as we more forward with this plan, I will be labeling all blog posts under "Country Cottage Real Estate Tours".
And as always, hope you follow along!

Last week when the farmhouse was under offer, I toured 6 houses.
Four near my current location and two in Sarnia, where I use to live.
The two homes in Sarnia were something I was not interested in, and did not take pics.

Out of the other four, only one was a contender.
A sweet country cottage.  Today I am sharing some pics of it, along with a few vision collages - Diane style.
Listing price is $87,500.

The sweetest home.  Beautiful outside and inside.
Let's check it out.

I daresay, I could live here forever. :)

A small corner lot.  In a hamlet with all of 10 houses maybe.

How could I not fall in love with this little place. :)

Heading inside, I found the interior a little dark.  You will see from the pics.
Throughout the post I did a few collages on ideas that I would make to add my own personal style to this sweet country home.
For starters, I would consider painting the entire interior a soft white.

The living room

Here is how I would pull this room together.

Sofa IKEA; Horse Art Bouclair; Floor Lamp Target; Curtains Country Curtains; Ceiling Light Wayfair

You will see from the collages that I am blending some of my farmhouse style, horse decor and prairie style into this new country cottage.

The kitchen

You're thinking what I'm thinking right....paint those cabinets either a white or a creamy colour of sorts.

I would move the refrigerator over to where the dishwasher is, and put a small table set there.

The bathroom

This sweet red ticking stripe shower curtain from Pottery Barn, fits perfect.

The bedrooms
There are two bedrooms in the house.  A master bedroom and the other the guest room.
The second bedroom looks like it was converted with a third bedroom into one big room.
Good to know if I wish to convert it back to a three bedroom house.  Alas, the third would be very small.  Just a thought anyway.

Adding my own style, I put together a collage on how I would style the master bedroom.

Shag rug Overstock; Throw pillow JYSK; Lighting Kohls; Headboard Walmart; Bedding Laura Ashley;

The basement/recreation room

I think...now that I can relax a little, that if the farmhouse sold I would have bought this sweet home.
Even now, I consider putting an offer on it, conditional on my home selling.  Something to think about anyway.

Thoughts on this country cottage tour #1?
