Early Fall Home Tour

In my neck of the woods, we have various stages of the four seasons.
Currently we are experiencing early autumn.
The air is cooler, the days are shorter.  Leaves are falling, some are turning colours, some are just falling off with the wind.
Sweaters are coming out, shorts are replaced with long pants, kids have just started back to school,
Fall Fairs and apples are being sold on the side of the road.
There is still lots of green around.  The colourful foliage show starts the end of September and into October.

That dot you see at the end of the rows of corn is my farmhouse.
When I drive up my country road, I see the stalks are turning into their Fall colour mode, a beautiful sight.
That and my home, makes me feel....calm.

In a few weeks I will celebrate my one year anniversary in the farmhouse.
And what an experience it has been.
Life on my little farm.  I have had my good experiences and some bad.
But this conversation is for another upcoming post, today I am focusing on some home decor.

To experience this early autumn part of the season, I brought it into my home.
Using neutrals and soft cozy colours.
Again the red and oranges will come next month, and will get a blog post out then.

Two twig pumpkins, wheat and an autumn Bearington Bear came from Home Sense.

One of the cabinets in the dining room.

The vintage buffet all dressed for the season.

In the china cabinet, I switched out my summer dishes and replaced everything with Fall.
The beige dishes are "Memories" by Denby, and the cream dishes are from Walmart.

Heading into the living room, a few autumn touches in here.
On the coffee table I did a small vignette using vintage mason jars, twigs, pumpkins and vintage keys.
The pumpkins in the tray are actually faux and came from the dollar store, I painted them white.
I gave a quick tutorial here.

A beige pillow and throw blanket loan to the seasonal colours.

Check back with me in a few weeks for another home tour, with the colourful Fall foliage.
Along with a tablescape and getting ready for Thanksgiving.

Let's stay connected, follow me on

  1. Love your home and all the fall touches you have out now.....looking forward to another tour of your lovely home.

  2. I really love the neutral calm colours of your home. It's looking lovely as always! We don't have the cooler weather yet, it is still 80 degrees and muggy today here in LaSalle. I'm hoping tonight's rain will cool things down a bit. Everything here is still very green. It's funny that you are not that far away and you've already got the colour changes.

  3. I love all your pretty fall decor touches. The Denby dishes are lovely and I imagine very hard to find replacements for these days. I have Denby Shamrock ones that are my 'good' dishes but I rarely use them as they are so heavy. I should try to sell them someday. You are blessed to live in the country, as am I. Have a lovely weekend Diane.

  4. Your home always looks so pretty, Diane. I love the colors against the blacks and whites. That is some spectacular driveway you have and the journey must be so satisfying each time you take it..Happy Weekend..Judy
