It All Starts With One

What have I been up to this week?
I would say I kept myself pretty busy.
This had to be the best purchase of the week for me.

But let's back up, let's start at the beginning of the week.
Last Wednesday, I traveled close to 3 hours to see my Doctor, then another 3 to get back home.
It had just so happen to be the first snow fall of the season and the roads were a mess.
But thankfully, on the way back home they had improved.

Last Thursday both kids came home for appointments here in Sarnia, and I so loved their company.
All too soon, my daughter headed back home the next day.
My son stayed a little longer, for the entire weekend, but went back to school on Sunday.
Both kids are in major exam mode right now and in two weeks will be home for Christmas break.
So very much looking forward to it!

last summer in California

So let's have a look at some things that have kept me busy this week.

I found this dining room listing on Kijiji for $40.  Not too bad a deal, if I say so myself.
I would like to take the paint brush to it, but can't really decide which colour I want.  So, I will wait for now.

Over the weekend I pulled out my "Precious Moment" Christmas ornament collection.
I set up a small 4ft tree, and for this year's season is where they will stay.
Because this condo is so small, I am limited with space.

Back in the day I use to have a collection of over 300 pieces.
Sadly, when I became a single mother I had to sell my entire collection.
It is just recently I was able to start it back up again.
I have about 60 pieces.  A good start.  I get so excited everytime I get a new piece.
They just seem more precious to me the second time around.

Remembering that massive collection back when I was married,
I had a 10ft tree that not only displayed the "Precious Moment" ornaments collection I had,
but I also collected  "Snow Babies" and "Cherished Teddies".

Ever so slowly, I am re-building that entire collection.  It is just something I have to do for myself.
I am re-building it one piece at a time.  And I will tell you, I honestly value ever single piece.
More so now,  then I ever did back then.
Let's see where I am in two years time.....this is very exciting for me!

Another collection I started a few years back is the Hallmark Barbie Christmas ornaments.
Coming along nicely with them.

As with the the Precious Moments above, I find I am beginning to get doubles.
So I have been listing those ones on eBay.
I don't even realize I have doubles, until I pull them out at Christmas and lo and behold, I have two of the same.

But clever me, this year I did an electronic list of them so I have them on my computer.
Over the years I have been making a list, but they have always been paper copies.....which always seem to get lost!

What to see what treasures I find this week?

  1. I remember in my Hallmark days selling the Precious Moments, Cherished Teddies, Boyds Bears and of course, the Hallmark Christmas Ornaments. Oh those were really busy times in the store too. I'm glad you're getting joy out of finding your ornaments again. I think the PM ones look sweet on your white tree. Have a great week!

  4. Oh, Diane, I had tears reading your post. I, also, had the giant tree and cabinets packed with Snow Village pieces. I love my house, my kids and i don't need anything more. But my cabinets went and the snow village is in boxes in the basement. I am slowly finding little places to create vignettes with them. And it does mean so much to me now when I look at them.

Great find and price on the kitchen set!!!
