A Day In The Life of a Thrifter

So far, so good!

$7.50 for the set.  Bought at local thrift store.

Last week I took a little fishing break.
Fishing, not in water and boat, but rather fishing for treasures.
I have set out to tackle a few things such as
antiquing, Kijiji (Craigslist) shopping and other projects that I wanted to concentrate on.

Here is a typical day for me.
Start my day out with a cup of tea....religiously.
Check out everyone's blog and Facebook posts.....see what's new.

$6.25 for 14pcs of blue Staffordshire transferware and the vintage cookie cutters.

Then I determine which day it will be.
Is it a Kijiji (Craigslist) day?  Scour the listings and try to pick it up that day.
Or do I go thrifting?  If so, which one - GW, Sally Ann or Value Village.
Or do I go grocery shopping - nope that's too boring, let's go back to the above choices.

Kijiji score for $15. It reminded me of our recent California vacation.  Artist Robert Wood.

Found it's way above the china cabinet.

Then I determine how much money will I spend that day?
Most days I do my best not to exceed $10, as I said...do my best.
Not always a practical budget, but I make it work.

Found this Kraft wooden box and vintage cloths pin through Kijiji, but it ended up being an antique shop.  $20 for everything.

Put them in a glass container - kinda cute!

I always go out in the morning....at least I try.
Sometimes with Kijiji I have to work around their schedule.
When I head out to do some antiquing or thrifting, the day always, always starts off with a Tim Horton's coffee.
And when I walk through that Thrift Store front door, I can't wait to see what treasures awaits me.

Finally I get home and I am starving.
Only to discover there is no food in the house.
Then I'm grumbling back out the door again to the grocery store!  ;)

Let's see what treasures I find this week.
Follow me on Facebook, I post there daily!

  1. You did really well. I love the blue and white china and the painting. All of it is nice.

  2. Diane - you've got some lovely things this week! I especially LOVE that painting! I hit the local Value Village today to do a drop off of some of my daughter's old clothes...headed in for a look around but left with nothing...I hate when that happens - can't wait to see what you get next! Happy thrifting!
