DIY Garden Plate Art

This summer I am putting together a container garden.
A section in my garden for perennials growing in planters and pots.
The flowers themselves make the area look pretty, but I wanted to add a little something something to the area.
So I created a flower made of plates.

 Here is what I used:

- LePage Super Glue Ultra Gel
- Plate and curvy bowl from thrift store
- Wooden stake

Easy, peasy tutorial:

Glue the wooden stake onto the back of the larger plate.
Glue the bowl onto the front of the plate.
Wait 24 hours.  They bond together within seconds, but I waited overnight to take them outside.

I attached my art work to a trellis in the garden with cable ties.

And voila, little bit of prettiness in the garden.
As we speak, I am making more.  This time some at different heights.
Check back in a bit and I will give a tour of the entire garden.

  1. Cute idea Diane. There are lots of cheap dishes at the thrift stores to make things like this with. Just use one's imagination. :)

  2. I love plates in the garden. You did a lovely job!

  3. so pretty...
I like plates in the garden, though I almost always wait until they are broken...then I stick them around the edges of pots and things.
This looks like a cute little flower. Love the birds.

  4. So pretty! This is a great idea!

  5. That looks so pretty but I am wondering why you added the bowl? Thanks.

  6. Thanks Pinky. I added the bowl because I wanted to make it look as close to a flower as I could. I wanted the clear bowl because I wanted to show more of the pretty bird plate. I love the look in my garden. Diane

  7. I can see lots of possibilities with this garden decor idea! Thanks for sharing.
