Two hour vacations

With daughter Rachel getting injured this summer our vacation plans had to change.

Detroit, MI skyline

We were heading this summer to Hershey World, Pennsylvania.
An amusement park.
Now however, plans had to be changed - can't take a girl with a broken back to be whipped around and tossed up-side down!
Doctor's orders are she can go for car rides, but for short periods of time.
No further than two hours from home.
Stopping frequently so she can stretch and relax.

Yesterday we were in Windsor for a doctor's appointment.
So we made a vacation day out of it!
Above picture is Rachel and son Coleman along the Detroit skyline.

We had a great day!

We eat at, not once, but twice at McDonalds....and survived to talk about it!
Yum....french fries!!

Rachel and I enjoying what we love most - beautiful gardens

We took a small walk around the park with beautiful botanical gardens.

We checked out the majestic Caesars Palace.

Among some of the famous performers here this year are Celine Dion,  Jerry Seinfeld, Rockin' Rod Stewart, the great Sir Elton John and Shania Twain.

The place is massive.

Rachel and her brother heading to the fountains to threw a coin in.

She had a good day yesterday - took her mind off of ....other things....

Ok....Mom's exhausted, lets go home!

Destination next week - Niagara Falls.

  3. One of my earliest memories is of being down on the Detroit River on the Windsor side watching the fireworks across the water in Detroit. I would have been around 4 years old.
    Short holidays are sometimes best.

  5. I'm glad that Rachel is able to get out and about now. It's nice that you could cross over to Detroit for the day. Day trips are the thing to do with the price of gas and airfare these days! Blessings,
