Baby Christening Gown

I bought this sweet Christening gown a few years back.

No particular reason, I just thought it was so sweet.

Both my own children were Christening in their father's heirloom gown.  I remember I really wanted to buy a brand new one for my daughter's Christening, but in the end I stuck with tradition....her Dad had been christened in the same gown.

Time will tell if my daughter or son will christen their children in the old family heirloom gown or buy a new one.

This little gown I bought off e-bay.  It is too small for a baby, but can be put on a doll or teddy bear.

I will be sharing my treasure at these parties

  1. This is so sweet Diane -- one of the prettiest I've seen. And what a darling matching bonnet. I especially love the lace and the satin ribbon. Thanks for sharing!

  2. This is very sweet, I love the tradition, however don't know too many family's that do this anymore, Celeste, victoriantailor.com

  3. I love tradition, keeps us grounded I think.
Hope your children will carry it on.
That is a very sweet dress you found (())

  4. It is so pretty! I have my dad's and I'm so glad. :) It is much more simple than this one... In my faith we call it a Dedication. But it is still kind of the same thing. :)

  5. The gown is gorgeous - love the sweet lace trim. Bet it would fit on my infant doll that I've had since I was a child. Her original gown wore out and I made a new one for her some years ago. Thanks for sharing this lovely gown with us and bringing back happy memories for me.
