Daughter's Birthday Tablescape

A few weeks ago, my daughter celebrated her 20th birthday.  A milestone for her as she was leaving her "teens".  I told her I was excited about doing a tablescape for her 20th, she asked me to "keep it simple".  So, keep it simple I did....but graceful.....just like her!

She is an advicate reader and these last few years has been enjoying Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse series (HBO True Blood) and the Harper Connelly series.  Like most of her generation, she likes to read fictional people with supernatural abilities.

She also loves the Georgia Nicolson series written by Louise Rennison.  She is always laughing as she reads these books!

So, in honour of her birthday and her favorite authors....a birthday tablescape.

She loves tulips....I wanted to buy a few more tulip pots to put in the basket, but simply ran out of time...so the birdie it was!

Grandpa's glasses.
Through the years, everytime I bring out these glasses for dinners I have always referred to them as "grandpa's glasses".  My dad use to collect them when I was small...now I have them.

And so....

My darling little girl.....happy birthday.....

Stay strong.....like your mother
Stay happy.....like your brother
Stay secure....like your father
Stay elegant....like your grandmother
Stay ambitious.....like your grandfather
Laugh.
God is always walking beside you.

  1. What a beautiful table Diane...and the love for your daughter comes through in every detail, like your beautiful center piece and the gorgoeus tea cups and saucers you chose for her table. I truly love the ruby colour on the grandpa glasses. Great job my friend. God bless your lovely daughter and Happy Birthday!

  12. I love the crispness, yet softness of this table. The soft pinks against the crisp reds makes for an inviting table for all. I hope your daughter liked it. I know we all did.
